So Los Angeles’ premier Ska /reggae outfit the Aggrolites played Hamburg on Tuesday in Altona’s wonderful ex factory venue – called Fabrik surprisingly enough!
Now they seem to do mostly bigger gigs in the 15-20 euro range here but I have to say its a deadly place, really well converted from factory to venue without losing it’s history and a really good sound and good views of the band, especially from upstairs if your that way inclined.
The Aggrolites were really good, their singer has an amazing range of notes and can really pull off that old soul type of singing and the Korg keyboard player is a belter.
Little too polished and a little too much “Lets hear you Hamburg” patter at times but thats probably just me being used to bands stopping mid song cause someone fucked up and having to start again and bands who never have to mention what city they are in because they only ever play their home towns.
